Pathology Physician

Job Description:

We are actively seeking Board-Certified Anatomic and Clinical Pathologists (AP/CP) for a fast-moving locum opportunity at a high-volume acute care hospital in Texas. This position involves both on-site work and weekday/weekend call, providing comprehensive pathology services across a broad case mix.

Key Details:

• Pay Rate: $215/hour
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens
• Start Date: August 18, 2025
• Contract Length: 26 weeks (ongoing)
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM onsite
• Call:
  • Weeknights: Monday-Friday, 5:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Weekends: 24-hour call
• Holiday Pay: 1.5x for major holidays
• Credentialing: Expedited, 30-45 days
• Guaranteed Daily Rate Covers: On-site hours + weeknight call
• Licensing: Must have active TX license (IMLC accepted)

Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and interpret a wide range of surgical pathology cases: breast, GI, GU, GYN, derm, lung, prostate, thyroid, frozen sections, FNAs, and more
• Participate in on-call responsibilities (must be within 30 minutes of facility)
• Collaborate with a team of 3 pathologists, managing 45-55 cases daily (shared)
• Use Cerner Fusion EMR for documentation
• Consult sub-specialty pathologists as needed

Qualifications:

• Board Certified in AP/CP
• Active Texas medical license (or IMLC eligible)
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a high-volume hospital pathology setting
• Strong diagnostic skills across broad case types
• Comfortable managing call coverage

Working Hours:

• Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• Weeknight and weekend call required

Skills Needed:

• Surgical pathology (high-volume, fast-paced)
• Strong communication and collaborative team approach
• Proficiency in EMR (Cerner preferred)
