Position Overview
The Managing Director of Wellness leads the wellness strategy and operations across all communities, ensuring exceptional resident care and regulatory compliance while aligning with organizational goals. This senior leadership role involves overseeing regional wellness leaders, designing and implementing wellness initiatives, and driving continuous improvement. The Senior Managing Director of Wellness plays a crucial role by collaborating with executive leadership to ensure the wellness program reflects the company mission, vision, and values.
Key Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership
- Establishes and drives the organization’s wellness strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Oversees the development and implementation of wellness programs to enhance resident care and satisfaction.
- Provides leadership and guidance to Regional Wellness Directors to ensure consistent care delivery across all communities.
- Monitors performance metrics and operational processes to identify areas for improvement.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensures compliance with all state regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Leads efforts to prepare for audits, inspections, and quality assurance reviews, ensuring high standards across the organization.
Team Development and Collaboration
- Mentors and develops senior wellness leaders, fostering professional growth and leadership excellence.
- Promotes collaboration among communities to share best practices and optimize resources.
Duties
- Work directly with the CEO, and other senior executives, contributing to the overall vision of the company and implementing major strategic changes.
- Involves managing director-level collaboration across all service domains, and ensuring strategic integration of Memory Care and Wellness to advance organizational goals, drive coordinated care models, and support service excellence.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of organization-wide wellness strategies and initiatives.
- Provide operational and strategic leadership to Regional Wellness Directors, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Maintain or reduce operational costs while ensuring productivity and quality.
- Implement cost-cutting initiatives, streamline processes, and eliminate waste.
- Regularly review the wellness department’s spending and identify areas for improvement (e.g., renegotiating vendor contracts or reducing overhead).
- Monitor resident care outcomes, satisfaction metrics, and community wellness performance to inform decision-making.
- Collaborate with the executive team to establish policies, procedures, and standards for wellness operations.
- Oversee compliance initiatives, ensuring that all communities adhere to state, regulations and company requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews of community performance and provide guidance for improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a key resource for resolving complex resident care challenges and supporting family concerns.
- Drive professional development for regional wellness leaders through mentorship, training, and performance feedback.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Home Office and community teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Represent the organization in industry events, regulatory discussions, and community engagements.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. RN license required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior living or healthcare, with at least five years in a senior leadership role
- Proven track record of managing multi-site wellness operations and achieving organizational goals
- Expert knowledge of senior care regulations, care planning, and wellness program development
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems (e.g., PointClickCare) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and team-building skills.
- Strong ability to work with data to improve systems and resident care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to lead and influence change within a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
- Requires significant travel, with an expectation of up to 50 percent travel time to various communities for conducting audits, ensuring compliance, and overseeing wellness program implementation
- Prolonged periods of sitting while working on strategy, documentation, and virtual meetings
- Frequent use of hands for typing, documentation, and clinical procedures
- Ability to lift or move materials and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds
