About this job
Under direction of Supervisor, monitors and manages plant health of trees, grass, and plants. Applies fertilizers and other nutrients to maintain optimum plant health. Determines when and where to make pesticide treatments for the control of all forms of unwanted pests. Calibrates and mixes pesticides as needed for treatments. Maintains application equipment in good, clean, and working conditions. Maintains accurate application records as well as records of inventory levels.
Compensation:
$21.77/hour (non-exempt)

Reports to: Director, Sr. Manager, and Assistant Manager

Responsibilities
Essential Duties
- Monitor and manage the overall plant health of plant material that is maintained by the Department.
- Remain knowledgeable in application of herbicides, fertilizers, and pesticides.
- Maintain records and responsibility for inventory control.
- Observe and report turf, landscape, and equipment problems to the Supervisor
- Follow directions on herbicide, fertilizer, and pesticide labels.
- Inform the Supervisor of any work discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
- Perform work with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees while exercising proper care and protection of Company property.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous knowledge and experience in herbicide, pesticide, and fertilizer application is desirable.
- Must possess basic knowledge of herbicide, fertilizer, and pesticide usage.
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
- Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
- Must have computer skills, preferable in Microsoft Excel.
- Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
- Ability to create effective working relationships with people.
- Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
- Must be flexible and available to work on weekends and/or holidays, depending upon scheduled days of operation and season.
- “Pesticide Handler” Training
- Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.
