About This Role
As an HVAC Lead Mini Split Installer you are the leader of your install team. Once instruction has been given to you by our Installation Manager, you are responsible for instructing your team and executing a professional install job. You will work hands on with your crew while installing a wide range of HVAC and refrigeration equipment. It is your job to make sure the installation is done properly, safely, and to the high standards of Plumbing Systems Inc. (PSI) all while providing excellent customer service.
What You’ll Do
- 80% of the work this person will do will be heat pump mini splits and conventional AC units
- Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units for residential and commercial customers
- Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of those heating, air conditioning and ventilation units
- Maintain proper inventory, parts, tools, and knowledge in using appropriate safety equipment in the vehicle
- Mentor and train apprentices on the job and provide them with learning opportunities
- Diagnose service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations
- Excellent customer service abilities in dealing with customers to resolve technical, logistical, and scheduling issues
- Perform quality work with honesty and diligence and follow company procedures and values
- Job sites often include world class homes
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Must consider safety one’s primary job and must have general knowledge of safe working practices and OSHA requirements.
- To adequately perform the duties of this job the team member is regularly and routinely required to sit; stand, walk, stoop, use hands to handle controls; hear, and talk.
- Must be able to climb ladders, work in hot and cold environments, and work in small crawl spaces.
- The ability to regularly lift and/or move 50+ lbs is required.
- The work environment can vary depending on the season and scope of work – employees are required to work outdoors throughout the seasons.
- This role is expected to work Monday through Friday from 7:30am-5pm, with occasional on call weeks
The pay for this position is $28-$45/hour or more depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location, plus performance based incentives. Other incentive pay may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
Requirements
We’d Love To Hear From You If You Have
- You have 3-5+ years of mini split installation experience and are looking for an opportunity to grow and be better supported
- You have an EPA license, a NATE certification is a plus
- You like to get the job done right the first time
- A strong communicator and a natural at explaining basic maintenance suggestions to customers
- You enjoy training and mentoring apprentices
- Active Driver’s License and the ability to pass a background check
- Tech Savvy - The ability to use tablets and learn work related software with ease
- Verifiable experience to develop quotations for repairs and installations of replacement equipment
- Demonstrable analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and manuals
- Proven ability in installing, replacing, and serving HVAC systems in new residential and commercial properties
- Willingness to work weekends (Saturdays) or on-call shifts when needed
