TKM111 Painter I, 2nd Shift

Objective of Position: Prepares and finishes metal surfaces of trailers in preparation for painting process.

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Follows surface preparation specifications on trailers and accessories.
2. Follows supervisor/assistant supervisor’s instructions.
3. Uses blasting equipment to remove rust, carbon, mill scale and weld spatter.  May be required to use buffers and chippers etc. to clean hard to reach areas.
4. Handles and utilizes all material used in the blast areas in a safe manner.
5. Applies primer and topcoat to trailers
6. Repairs paint on trailers
7. Operates overhead crane in a safe manner.
8. Is familiar with all equipment used and is responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep. 
9. Advises supervisor of any problems with sandblasting equipment or trailers. 
10. Monitors supplies needed in area and updates supervisor as necessary. 
11. Carefully prepares trailers for blasting or painting, by masking off key components on the trailer that are not blasted or painted. 
12. Handles, stores and disposes of all hazardous materials properly. Successfully completes annual training.
13. Follow standard work and procedures.
14. Must adhere to all safety standard set by the company.
15. Performs axle alignments and adjusts brakes as directed.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

1. Possess basic computer skills.
2. Possess the ability to accurately read a measuring tape.   
3. Possess the ability to read and follow instructions    

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

1. Ability to work up to a 12 hour shift.
2. Able to wear personal protective equipment while performing job functions.
3. Must be willing to fluctuate hours to accommodate needs
4. While performing duties of job, employee is required to: stand, kneel, walk, sit, climb, bend, and twist; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. 
5. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
6. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
7. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust, fumes and is near moving machinery. 
8. Successfully perform a Pulmonary Function Test and be able to utilize a respirator while operating        blasting equipment.
9. Upon initial assignment to an area where hazardous waste will be handled, training of management of hazardous waste must be conducted within six months of start date
10. Annual training is required for management of hazardous waste including a review of the company contingency plan
