Work closely with ISP and send maintenance to priority incidents. Tour all 157 miles of the road and the plazas to monitor traffic conditions and provide real-time updates to patrons./ppAlong with the technology and required competency assessments during employment, the TMC and its employees serve as a vital link to the preservation of human life and property by the timely and accurate understanding of policies and protocols, accurate and efficient dispatching, and proper notification escalations. Significant errors elevate the risk of injury and accidents along the corridor./ppThe position is not eligible for a modified or hybrid work arrangement, unless an emergency exists which requires the TMC and/or administration building to be evacuated and unusable./ph1span style="font-size: 24px;"Relationships:/span/h1ulliWorks directly with TMC Supervisor/ Assistant Manager/ Manager and all departments across the ITR./li/ulpnbsp;/ph1span style="font-size: 24px;"Responsibilities:/span/h1/divp id="isPasted"bull; General:/ppo Performs all tasks safely, complies with all internal and external safety requirements, supports ITRCCrsquo;s safety culture, attends all safety training, and completes all compliance trainings as required by ITRCC./ppo Upholds ITRCCrsquo;s core values: Community, Actions, Reliability, Excellence and Safety (CARES)./ppo All other duties as assigned../ppbull; Level 1(including General):/ppo Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, detecting, confirming, updating and responding to scheduled and unscheduled traffic incidents across the (ITR) corridor./ppo Responsible for all facets of operation while on duty including 800Mhtz radio, telephone, and e-mail to communicate with all ITRCC personnel and Indiana State Police (ISP)./ppo Ensure compliance and consistency towards ITRCCrsquo;s goals and objectives./pdivo Monitor video images for detection and verification of crashes, debris, abandoned or disabled vehicles, and hazardous or non-hazardous spills. This includes evaluating the location of DMS in relation to the location of incidents/roadway obstructions, quickly developing an appropriate message and activating the DMS sign to inform/warn motorists of traffic conditions or potential safety hazards. o Utilization of the ITS software to log potential and confirm incidents, construction and maintenance closures.po Dispatch and communicate with towing agencies and emergency response personnel via radio or telephone using standard protocols regarding locations of road hazards and crashes, providing clear direction and accurate description of an incident as advised by the public through safety entities and/or department personnel./ppo Inputting radio/phone traffic information into the station log./ppo Dispatch wreckers to disabled vehicles and accidents in their contracted area./ppo Inputting accidents and DV#39;s into ATMS./ppo Monitors and collects data for the smart truck parking locations and updates the system according to established protocols./ppo Listen to Indiana State Police radio and communicate with Indiana State Police and update them about disabled vehicles, accidents, and debris./ppo Follow situational guide and make sure that the right people are clear for the type and severity of incident./ppo Tour Plazas and watch for backups, disabled vehicles in lanes, and vehicles backing out of lanes./ppo Take calls from contractors for lane closures and work in plazas. Making sure the work is approved via lane closure report./ppo Put in building and roadway maintenance tickets in Vueworks./ppo Send out silver alerts via email./ppo Make contact by phone with Gary INDOT, Chicago Skyway and Ohio West gate when the ITR has incidents that may impact their traffic./ppo Other duties as assigned./ppbull; Level 2 (including level 1):/ppo Complete LMS to develop supervisory skills./ppo Obtain certification in supervision or people management skills from an accredited organization./ppo Participate in a management-led mentorship program with an ITR manager./ppbull; Level 3 (including level 2):/ppo Obtain roadway safety training certification from ATSSA/ppo Obtain certification in emergency dispatching./ppo *Tier changes can happen if the employee meets the qualifications during the next review period./ph1nbsp;/h1h1span style="font-size: 24px;"Qualifications: nbsp;/spannbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;/h1ullibull; High school diploma/ GEDpbull; Ability to hear and understand two radio channels simultaneously while conversing on the telephone/ppbull; Ability to type with speed and accuracy/ppbull; Ability to monitor video images/ppbull; Above average communication skills both written and verbal/ppbull; Proficient computer skills, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook/ppbull; Ability to communicate with others under stressful conditions/ppbull; Ability to use common sense in making instant decisions/ppbull; Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel)/ppbull; Ability to multi-task and listen to multiple channels at once/ppbull; Ability to handle stressful situations and remain professional/p/li/ulpnbsp;/ppstrongspan style="font-size: 24px;"Desirable Experience:nbsp;/span/strong/ppbull; Level 1: 1-3 years of relevant work experience/ppbull; Level 2: 4-6 years of relevant work experience/ppbull; Level 3: 7+ years of relevant work experience/ppbull; Prior experience dispatching/ph1nbsp;/h1h1span style="font-size: 24px;"Working Conditions:nbsp;/span/h1bull; This position requires: (Frequent est. 5 hrs per shift)p Frequent standing, walking and sitting/pp Frequent talking and hearing/pp Light physical effort/pp Heavy computer usage/p/div/div/div
