Neonatology Advanced Practice Provider (NP) - APP - Fulltime & Per Diem - UNC Neonatology at Lenoir

UNCPN Neonatology at Lenoir in partnership with UNC Health Lenoir, located in Kinston, NC, are currently seeking NNPs to work fulltime and per diem at our Level 1 nursery. You will be part of a highly educated and trained team of physicians (pediatricians and neonatologists) and nurses with the aim of providing excellent care to newborns. This position allows for flexibility and seeks strong experience and leadership qualities. Our daily census is very manageable and allows for day-to-day flexibility for a strong and experienced candidate. The role requires the ability to practice independently, with ample remote support from experienced MDs.

 Schedule: 

• Days: 7 days on - 7 days off – there is a potential for this model to be adjusted based on candidate experience
• 7am-7pm – there is overnight call covered by other providers
• Fulltime and Per Diem openings!

 Responsibilities:

• Primary caregiver in Level 1 Nursery to newborn infants
• Assessing & diagnosing newborn infants
• Preparing for transfer, if needed, to local Level 2-3 NICUs 
• Prescribing medication on your own authority with the agreement of supervising physician 
• Educating/supporting parents/guardians in the care of their newborn
• Ordering/performing medical tests and procedures
• Working independently with remote MD support
• Comfort and experience with procedures such as neonatal intubations and central line placements is highly sought after and preferred.

Qualifications: 

• Certified NNP
• L&D, Nursery or Pediatric NP/PA work experience required
• Work independently with remote supervising physician oversight
