DJ&A is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Inspector to join our team. The Construction Inspector will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and compliance of construction projects on a seasonal basis, collaborating closely with the contractor’s quality control team to ensure the highest quality of projects. This role involves working closely with engineers, on-site contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that all construction activities meet the project plan and specifications.

  • Washington
  • Oregon
  • Northwestern Montana
  • Colorado

Depending on project needs and details, housing allowance, travel stipends, per diem or vehicle benefits may be provided to the selected candidate. Some projects may require up to 50%+ travel.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Monitor and document construction progress, identifying and addressing any issues or discrepancies. 
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and other project documents. 
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve any construction-related issues. 
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records of all inspections and findings. 
  • Ensure that all safety regulations and protocols are followed on construction sites. 
  • Assist in the review and approval of construction materials and methods. 
  • Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams as needed. 
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates on inspection activities and findings. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree or associate’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction inspection or a related role. 
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, terminology, construction process, documentation, materials, and building codes. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. 
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and software. 
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various construction sites. 
  • Ability to work remotely and in remote locations. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Construction Inspector (CCI) or similar.
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary engineering/construction projects. 
  • Familiarity with sustainable construction practices. 

Potential Earning Boosting Qualifications:

  • ACI (American Concrete Institute) certifications (e.g., Concrete Field-Testing Technician, Concrete Strength Testing Technician).
  • NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) certifications (e.g., in highway construction, asphalt, concrete).
  • ICC (International Code Council) certifications (for building inspectors: Residential, Commercial, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Inspector). 
  • OSHA certifications.  
  • Welding inspection certifications (CWI).
  • Demonstrated successful experience with similar responsibilities on projects with comparable scope and complexity.
  • Other relevant state and local licenses and certifications. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods working in the field in various conditions and over varied terrain 
  • Must be able to travel to various (and sometimes remote) sites 
  • Must be able to access and navigate sites 
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle safely and comfortably in remote conditions 

Salary and Benefits 

  • Hourly wage: min. $30 to $40 an hour.
  • Per diem reimbursement.
