Our Youth Program staff are responsible for creating a fun and positive environment for our youth members ages 6-12 by leading fun, engaging recreational activities. In this role you will provide appropriate supervision of all participants and communicate program information to parents. You will also be responsible for the set up and care of program areas and equipment./ppbr//ppstrongAvailable weekend shift:/strong Saturday 8:00am-11:00am/ppstrongAvailable afternoon shifts:/strong M-TH 4:30pm-7:00pm/ppstrong$14.00 per hour/strong/ppstrongAll YMCA employees receive a free YMCA membership!/strong/ppbr//ppbr//ppstrongESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:/strong/pulliCustomer Service/liliEffectively interact with and supervise youth and teens participating in programs at all times./liliProvide informal general academic assistance to program participants./liliActively facilitate structured lessons planned for youth development in: academic enrichment, social skill development, health, physical activity, cultural competency, inclusion and asset building./liliActively facilitate informal and structured lessons planned for youth in the areas of: following directions, social interactions, skill development, general healthy living, physical activity, and inclusion./liliBe flexible and able to adapt to changes in program schedule and participant needs./liliMaintain a positive and professional attitude at all times while performing duties that support social responsibility within the community./liliMaintain good public relations with program participants, staff and parents./liliDemonstrate the ability to care about and give attention to participant's needs./liliMonitor enrollment and attendance in programs./liliMaintain and care for all program areas and supplies./liliCommunicate program information, problems, and concerns to parents, participants, and managers/directors./liliCommunicate program information, problems, and concerns to parents, participants, and managers/directors./liliAttend special events as required./li/ulpRequirements/ppstrongQUALIFICATIONS/KNOW-HOW:/strong/pulliMust be a minimum of 16 years of age./liliGeneral knowledge of youth sports and activities./liliMust enjoy working with children and have the ability to provide verbal instruction and physical demonstrations to a variety of age groups./liliKnowledge and commitment to the YMCA mission and its core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring./liliCPR and First Aid certification or ability to attain certification within 30 days of hire./liliHuman relation skills necessary to facilitate positive and effective relationships with youth and teen participants, community organizations, parents, staff, and volunteers./liliWillingness to work as part of a team to offer quality programming./li/ulpstrongPHYSICAL DEMANDS/strong/pulliSufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs)./liliMust have adequate sight and hearing to effectively supervise program participants./liliMust be able to lift and carry supplies weighting up to 20 pounds./liliPosition may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking./li/ul
