Overview:
The supervisor must effectively communicate both verbally and written with all patients, physicians, and staff. Supervises all staff within the radiation oncology team. Orients staff on new equipment or procedures as well as other departmental procedures. Radiation oncology operational responsibilities will include assisting with and/or coordinating payroll, staff scheduling and training. Assistance may be asked in the development of capital budget requests as well as support of the operational budget. Assistance will also be given towards adherence to the operational budget as it relates to efficient utilization of staff and the ordering of supplies including minor equipment. Supervisor will be responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the department.

liEducates, prepares, and reassures patients and their families by personal interaction and rapport building./li
liParticipates in a variety of clerical duties necessary for department functioning./li
liWorks in collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary team to assure care is coordinated across the continuum./li
liCommunicates effectively inter and intra departmentally with other healthcare professionals and customers to provide accurate, timely information and to reduce problems and minimize exceptions./li
liCommunicates with the department manager/director and documents as necessary when problems or unusual circumstances arise./li
liAdministers and supervises the daily activities of personnel in Radiation Oncology at the hospital and joint venture and procures necessary resources for personnel./li
liPlans and schedules work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties./li
liCompletes hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, vacation schedules and corrective actions up to and including termination./li
liMaintains department employee records for continued developmental and employee relations issues./li
liEnsures compliance with regulatory agencies such as DNV, IEMA, IDPH and FDA./li
liWorks with Radiation Safety Officer in monitoring personnel radiation dosimetry reports and takes corrective action when necessary./li
liDevelops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives./li
liWorks closely with appropriate personnel ensure accurate and quality treatments are performed./li
liMonitors, evaluates, and implements actions to improve employee and patient satisfaction./li
liProvides opportunities for staff development and in-service programs./li
liSupports the regulatory process by assisting with the inspection preparation and maintenance of standards of care/li

liWorks with the physicians in developing protocols and maintaining standards of care for Oncology patients./li
liParticipates in project management activities to improve the flow of patient care throughout the Oncology Service Line./li
liAssists in department specific process improvements to achieve best practices./li
liParticipates in gathering data on PI initiatives, including chart review./li
liParticipates in determining root causes./li
liInitiates and implements process improvements based on evidence-based practices and best practices in the delivery of care for oncology patients./li
liSelects metrics to track patient outcomes./li
liNetworks with other departments and programs to seek best practice program design innovations./li
liParticipates in making recommendations to the department leader regarding utilization of supplies, equipment, and quality improvement./li
liMonitors referring physicians with use of monthly dashboards./li
liWorks to promote a positive work environment which emphasizes respect for patients, families, physicians, staff, and internal and external departments./li

Certifications: Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiation Therapy - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA); Registered in Radiation Therapy (T) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: Bachelor's Degree: Nursing; Associate's Degree: Radiologic Technology (Required), Work Experience: Leadership

Salary Range:
The compensation range for this position is $45.25per hour - $77.83per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
