Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor provides direction and coordinates activities of workers responsible for picking products and preparing it for same day shipping both nationally and internationally.
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and ensures items are prepared for shipment
- Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers
- Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
- Enforce the proper maintenance and record keeping of forklifts, coolers, and other equipment used by the Shipping Department
- Required to manage all employees and is responsible for the performance throughout operation hours
- Will be required to monitor all cash sale transactions and ensure all currency is accounted for everyday
- Required to determine space availability in coolers to ensure proper management of inventory
- Will be required at times to assist works perform office clerk duties, shipping, and receiving activities
- Determine as per Famous which order are required to be shipped
- Ensure employees are preparing future orders as designated by Famous
- Perform department reports on a weekly basis and inform upper management personnel of any changes
- Require all safety procedures are being followed by employees
- Report any unsafe acts that occur within the facility
- Maintains departments ISO procedures and work instructions up to date
- Oversees warehouse inventory accuracy and management throughout the department
- Responsible for on-site safety, environment, health and site security
- Accepts the supervisory role as it is intended including the ability to lead, motivate and instill confidence and cooperation among the employees
- Will be required to perform various tasks outside his/her job description
Education & Experience
- Associates degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of shipping and receiving experience in a lead or supervisory role
- Famous experience, a plus
Skills
- Attention to Detail
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, but not required
- Leadership competencies that lead and inspire others – drives for exceptional results
- Proficient computer skills required – word, excel, and outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working Hours
Must be willing to work flexible schedules; able to work Saturdays and in special circumstances Sundays
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
The essential functions of this job require frequent standing, walking, and upper body movements. Specific vision acuity required by this job includes close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and color vision when cleaning products. Physical demands include bending, stooping, reaching above and below shoulder level. Lifting and carrying are also essential. The employee will also be in contact with chemical products and machinery.
Additionally, the incumbent will work near moving mechanical parts, stacks, pallets and may be exposed in high places and surfaces. There is moderate noise in the work environment. The incumbent for this position may be on call for emergencies according to the business needs, only when required.
The noise level is frequently quiet or moderately quiet, at or below 70 decibels and in the product plant areas noise levels can exceed 80 decibels when machinery is operating.
The incumbent may be exposed to situations in which occasional lifting may be involved (up to 50 lbs.), with or without assistance. There will be exposure to situations of working in a hot or cold environment from 38°ree;F-60°ree;F and will frequently be exposed to hot or wet (humid) locations.
