About the Opportunity
As a General Manager with Vandelay Hospitality Group, you’ll be more than a leader; you’ll be the driving force behind our guest experiences. Core Responsibilities
- Create memorable dining experiences by exceeding guest expectations and showing a genuine love for the art of hospitality
- Embody Vandelay Hospitality Group’s standards of excellence with a high-energy, service-oriented attitude and inspire your team to do the same
- Respond to guest concerns, both written and verbal with the ability to creatively solve problems and develop robust solutions
- Develop, communicate and achieve forecasts and realistic budgets, financial goals and objectives
- Conduct employee orientations to communicate VHG company culture, restaurant specific knowledge and maintain accurate training records
- Recruit, retain, train and develop a team that is enthusiastically dedicated to delivering the highest level of hospitality to our guests
- Develop initiatives to build sales, profitability and guest check average by driving sound community involvement programs
- Ensure the profitability of restaurant operations by operating within cost of goods and labor productivity guidelines while providing quality food and exceptional service
- Ability to explain and articulate monthly P&L fluctuations and action plans during monthly meetings
- Control other direct operating expenses such as utilities, smallware, etc., to minimize expense without adversely affecting operations and guest experience
- Purchase within established guidelines and oversee correct invoicing, storage and sealing of all products to always ensure quality and freshness
- Manage team’s work safety by being alert and taking action regarding safety hazards
- Ensure all restaurant paperwork is completed accurately and on a timely basis including but not limited to: daily reports, payroll, purchase orders and all employment related forms and documentation
- Ensure established standards for food safety, sanitation and quality are maintained
- Ensure all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to company recipes, portioning, cooking and Vandelay Hospitality Group’s serving standards
- Responsible for the physical and esthetic maintenance of the restaurant both inside and outside the restaurant
- Ensure adherence to all local, state and federal laws and regulations
- Action focused based on guest reviews and feedback
- Adhere to disciplinary actions for the team within Vandelay Hospitality Group’s set standards and protocols
- Attend and participate in General Manager meetings as scheduled
- Lead weekly manager meetings to communicate informational updates and build a cohesive management through proactive communication
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Restaurant / Hospitality Management or similar field of study strongly preferred
- 2+ years of full service restaurant General Manager experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Trustworthy, detail-obsessed and open to constructive feedback
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
- Desire and natural ability to with our engage guests, exuding an infectious commitment to guest service at all times
