We’re seeking a dynamic, proactive, and organized project manager to partner with our rental sales and field execution managers to manage our rental projects. The ideal candidate has prior experience managing large construction projects as a project manager or a superintendent. This position will work out of our Riverside, Missouri facility with job site travel involved.

What You’ll Do

As Rental Sales Project Manager, you will be responsible for the profitability of rental projects across the Cogent footprint and shall be a critical role involving daily interactions with Cogent teammates across departments, customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve rental project cost projections.
  • Coordinate with the rental sales team and execution managers to establish rental project cost projections.
  • Work with rental sales and execution managers to understand all project construction site rules and procedures and incorporate into cost projections.
  • Work with the safety manager to ensure project cost projections include costs required to complete the projects in accordance with all safety goals.
  • Manage “work in progress” cost projections through project execution.
  • Manage the customer relationship through project execution to ensure the project is profitably executed within the contract parameters while providing a positive customer experience.
  • Participate in project execution resource planning strategy with the rental execution team managers.
  • Develop ongoing strategies and tools to increase project profitability.
  • Coordinate with job site supervisory personnel to manage scope, labor, and commitments as it relates to job profitability.
  • Coordinate with job site supervisory personnel to ensure work is performed within the scope of the contract.
  • Work with rental sales and project coordinators to ensure all “work in progress” project costs not included in the original contract are agreed upon change orders with the customer.
  • Work with the execution managers and jobsite supervisory personnel in the selection of, and in the “work in progress” project management of, any 3rd party subcontractors.
  • Negotiate contract pricing, timelines, & terms with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Work with the sales and execution leadership to determine the appropriate opportunities to pursue matching Cogent strategy.
  • Develop ongoing strategies and tools to increase project profitability.
  • Prioritize and conduct daily activities in a way that exemplifies the Cogent Core Values.
  • Prioritize and conduct daily activities in support of overall Velocity market growth in the defined geography.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships.
  • Assist customers, distributors and outside sales staff in research for bids, projects and any other requests to find appropriate rental solutions.
  • Promote and drive all Cogent operational and safety requirements, policies, and processes.
  • Work closely with the rental sales manager to develop and maintain key vendor relationships.
  • After action reviews following all projects managed.
  • Exemplify all Cogent values, polices, and processes.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to local outside sales teams and customers by answering questions regarding rental equipment, installation, operation, maintenance and problem solving
  • May attend trade shows
  • Will travel to look at projects
  • Will travel to “work in progress” projects
  • Will perform field business development work
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Cogent Leadership Group

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Knowledge of administrative processes, policies and procedures related to a sales department and material flow
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, fabrication/manufacturing of equipment and machine shop practices preferred
  • Knowledge of the Velocity/Cogent brand product line card
  • Understanding of the rental sales process
  • Understanding of the Salesforce and workflow processes
