Summary


Assists professional staff with the preparation, access and provision of rehabilitative care. Practices with the patient as
the focus, striving for achievement of optimal customer service and quality of care at all times. Performs reception,
registration, scheduling and clerical duties as well as patient transport duties. Ensures a safe, clean, orderly department.


Job Duties

Patient Care Standards:

  • Immediately administers to patients, families, staff and volunteers who present at the reception area.*
  • Completes the patient registration and scheduling processes efficiently with no errors.*
  • Assists therapists in the preparation and execution of patient treatments and other duties as requested.*
  • Observes patients at all times while in the rehab department to ensure safety.
  • Transports patients to and from the nursing floors for therapy.*

Service Area Maintenance Standards:

  • Maintains the department, clean, orderly and safe at all times.*
  • Completes the daily, weekly, monthly cleaning schedule guidelines and records completion.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, linen, etc. and keeps all areas stocked consistently
  • Copy, fax, and distribute information with the department and facility timely.

Leadership Standards:

  • Demonstrates an enthusiastic, motivating attitude and approach towards patients and staff while showing
    solution-oriented involvement at all times.*
  • Carries out directives in a positive manner showing self-initiative and accepts responsibility for follow-up.*
  • Is challenged by change, recognizes need for change, views constructive criticisms a tool for improving self as
    well as patient care.*
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic with effective time management skills.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills with all staff and directs concerns to the appropriate individual(s),
    avoiding gossip.*

  • Attends and participates in all mandatory and voluntary facility and departmental meetings, education and
    training sessions, groups and committees.
  • Values and improves current level of expertise by participating in continuing education.

Documentation Standards:

  • Correctly organizes and accurately maintains the rehab departmental medical records.*
  • Completes the therapist daily schedules insuring 80% billable hours.*
  • Completes follow-up communication on all cancellations and no shows timely according to guidelines.*
  • Assists in maintaining statistical data.
  • Transfers medical records to/from appropriate facility departments timely.

Safeguarding of the Privacy and Security of Protected Health Information:

  • Responsible for safeguarding any PHI seen, used or disclosed during this positions normal job functions and
    stated in the above job responsibilities based on the HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures.

Safety Standards:

  • Familiarizes self with, supports, and adheres to all departmental and facility safety policies and procedures reporting violations immediately.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Staff support position. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 6:45 am to 5:30 pm. Works closely with Acute
Care and Long Term Care Departments.


Supervisory Responsibility
Assist in orientation of staff and supervision of student
