STANTON COUNTY HEALTHCARE FACILITY (CAH)
DEPARTMENT: PHYSICAL THERAPY
POSITION: Physical Therapist
SUPERVISOR: Rehab Director
Responsible for evaluation, planning, directing and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician, dentist, or appropriate mid-level practitioners, such as Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Administers treatments and physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live with the limits of their capabilities. The staff therapist coordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff (Certified Physical Therapist Assistants and/or Rehab Aides or Certified Nurse Aides, etc.). Provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Ensure that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
Responsibilities
- Maintain proper licensure of self and staff.
- Administer patient care per State and Federal regulations and according to protocols established within industry in conjunction with Medical Staff.
- Monitor billing to ensure billing standards are met by State and Federal regulations.
- Develop and administer department budget.
- Ensure hospital policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Assist in providing appropriate in-services to hospital staff when appropriate.
- Maintain appropriate equipment and supplies necessary to deliver quality services and ensure equipment is maintained in proper working conditions.
- Perform or supervise appropriate clerical duties of the department.
- Perform appropriate Quality Assurance monitoring and reporting in accordance with Hospital QA/QI plan.
- Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained.
- Attend hospital meetings and in-services as appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy program as recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association and the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
- Must hold an active license/certificate to practice physical therapy in the State of Kansas.
- Must hold a current CPR certification.
- Special knowledge or skills must be commensurate with education and training for providing physical therapy services.
- Prior experience in acute care, long-term care and outpatient care therapies are highly desirable but not mandatory.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance and demonstrate positive communication skills with patients/clients, public and staff.
