Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential munication support within a K-12 educational setting located in Jarratt, VA. This contract position spans the full school year and focuses on facilitating effective munication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, classmates, and school staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and school activities.
- Support students during academic, social, and extracurricular events to ensure equal access and participation.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, special education coordinators, and other staff to understand lesson plans and student needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English with strong interpreting skills.
- Previous experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings preferred.
