We are expanding our team to serve the needs of our community in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri area! Central Ozarks Medical Center (COMC) is excited to announce an opening for a Senior Staff Accountant (Seeking a self-starter)!


COMC is a Missouri non-profit, federally qualified health center that has served Pulaski, Laclede, Camden and Miller counties for over 40 years. Responsibilities: The Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role in financial management, overseeing complex accounting tasks, contributing to strategic planning, and ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. They prepare financial statements, conduct account reconciliations, and often supervise staff.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Senior Staff Accountant Job Duties:

  • Preparing, examining, and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records in accounting software.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
  • Participate and provide support in month-end and year-end close processes by preparing adjusting journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and analysis as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and company policies.
  • Supervise and train junior accountants and other staff.
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights into management.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Record vendor transactions paid through electronic funds transfers.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and income statement accounts as assigned.
  • Assist with the annual audit by preparing financial documentation as assigned.
  • Assist with annual operating budgeting by preparing analysis of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare analysis of assigned expense accounts as assigned by the CFO.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reports.
  • Support grants management by ensuring proper grant tracking and accounting.
  • Perform vendor background checks.
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents. Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Support the CFO with special projects and workflow processes improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a self-starter and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



Education and/or experience: Bachelors degree in accounting, business, or related field. At least 5-7 years of professional experience in accounting, leadership/supervisory skills, and worked with Grants are preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required. Professional certification such as a CPA is preferred. Experience with accounting in a healthcare/non-profit organization is preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to top management. High level of communication proficiency.

Mathematical Skills: Proficient in excel is a must. Ability to work with accounting concepts such as income and expense statements, budgets, and controls on cash such as into and out of COMC for deposit to the bank. Financial management.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Other Skills and Abilities: Outgoing personality with strong phone etiquette skills, outstanding customer service skills. Confidentiality of patient information is mandatory. Accounting, Corporate Finance, Reporting Skills, Attention to Detail, Deadline-Oriented, Reporting Research Results, Confidentiality, Time Management, Data Entry Management. Problem solving. Decision making.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This includes moderate physical effort consisting of occasionally lifting or moving over 35 pounds of weight.

Travel Requirement: To fulfill the responsibility of the position travel to all COMC locations may be required. Employee must have a valid Missouri drivers license and availability of a motor vehicle.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hours are flexible as approved by the CFO with increased hours for weekends and evenings during special events. Knowledge of, and compliance with, HIPAA and 340B regulations is required. Confidentiality of patient information is mandatory.
