Job Summary

We are looking for a Event CAD Drafter and Designer that is proficient in Vectorworks to work with our Project Managers and clients in the Production department. Two key success factors for this role is having the ability to navigate competing priorities seamlessly and effortlessly with ease and polish, and the communication skills to work in collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have direct drafting/production design experience working with clients on live & hybrid events with up to 10k attendees.

Essential Functions

· Design model, annotate and itemize event spaces with lighting, audio, video, staging and rigging for corporate and live entertainment events.

· Strong communication skills to work with project managers, department leads and sales to produce drawings.

· Collaborate with project managers, and clients to layout and design event spaces.

· Innovative with problem-solving skills to find challenges digitally before being on site.

· Vectorworks – Develop Vectorworks layouts, elevations, white models and floorplans for a variety of environments.

· Fire Marshal Drawings – Manage the creation and formal submittal of fire marshal drawings for Brite Ideas events to include adherence with local fire codes, rules, and regulations specific to each venue.

· 3D Standards – Ability to create white models and space in 3D.

· Renderings – Preferred ability to take white models and turn them in to color renderings via photoshop, Illusrator, or Cinema 4D.

· CAD Standards – Partner with the Director of Production to establish, implement, and rigorously enforce unified CAD standards, layer conventions, and file organization across the entire Production team.

· Truss Tapes – Print truss tapes for large scale projects, when needed.

· Other relevant duties may be assigned by management.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work Environment:

· This position primarily works indoors in an office setting and climate-controlled environment and may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, dirt or dust.

Physical Demands:

· Prolonged periods of sitting with occasional standing, walking, bending and reaching.

Lifting:

· Must be able to lift, carry and exert force up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Vision & Hearing:

· Must be able to distinguish colors, use close vision for computer screens/documents, use distance vision and have the ability to judge depth perception and spatial awareness for safety precautions.

· Must be able to hear sufficiently to understand and comprehend individual conversations and listen for potential safety precautions.

Noise:

· The noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate with standard business office equipment and may increase to occasional loud noise levels with large production gear or equipment moves.

Requirements

Experience & Education Requirements

· Must have four (4)+ years hands-on Vectorworks drafting ( or similar drafting experience) for live corporate or entertainment events (site surveys, rigging plots, AV layouts).

· Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, Entertainment Design, Architecture or related field –OR– Associate degree with 4+ years directly relevant experience.

· Must have a portfolio demonstrating at least three large-scale productions ( Ground Plan, 3D white models + rendered client views).

· Vectorworks Spotlight Professional certification is preffered.

· OSHA 10/30 certification is preferred.

· Must have reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license for site surveys.

· Familiar with working on both PC and Mac computers and using MS Office.

· Ability to occasionally work overtime, weekends and evenings.

· Technical Skills: Vectorworks Spotlight 2024/2025, Renderworks, Cinema 4D or Twinmotion, Adobe Creative Cloud (Ps, Ai), Basic AutoCAD/Bluebeam familiarity; Understanding of ANSI E1.45 & local fire-code e-plan portals
