We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Permanent Associate Attorney to join our dynamic Environment & Land division. This rare opportunity allows you to be part of a team that is at the forefront of the legal industry, providing innovative solutions to complex environmental and land use legal challenges. The successful candidate will work with a diverse client base, including private corporations, government agencies, and non-profit organizations, in matters related to permitting, zoning, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), environment, transportation, utilities, class action, legal research, and legal writing. Responsibilities:
1. Provide strategic legal advice on a wide range of environmental and land use matters, including permitting, zoning, CEQA, NEPA, and related issues.
2. Represent clients in all stages of the litigation process in class action suits and other complex legal disputes.
3. Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare well-reasoned legal memoranda, briefs, and opinions.
4. Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, such as contracts, deeds, and leases.
5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful completion of projects in the transportation and utilities sectors.
6. Advise clients on compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
7. Attend court hearings, meetings, and other events as necessary.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Admitted to practice law in the state and in good standing with the state bar.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental and land use law, with a focus on permitting, zoning, CEQA, NEPA, class action, legal research, and legal writing.
4. Proven track record of successfully representing clients in complex legal disputes.
5. Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
8. Strong commitment to client service and demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
9. Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
10. Experience in the transportation and utilities sectors is a plus.
