Job purpose:
Our growing and thriving Optometry office is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to assist doctors with patient care.
Duties and responsibilities:
Medical Assistant - Optometric
- As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to the clinical operation of the optometry office.
- You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
- The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
- Interview patients and document basic medical history.
- Update medical records.
- Schedule referral appointments.
- Code insurance claims.
- Input data into electronic medical records.
- Erx medications to pharmacies.
- Assist during medical examinations.
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
- Perform diagnostic and imaging test.
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
- Train and assist patients with contact lens orders.
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant
- Knowledge of medical office procedures.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Social perceptiveness and service-oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Proficiency in Revolution or other patient management software.
- High school diploma.
- General knowledge of computers.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work under minimal supervision.
- Experience in medical assisting is a plus.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
