We are seeking a highly skilled Combatives Instructor to lead the design and delivery of realistic, progressive combatives and tactical training for Maritime Expeditionary Security Force (MESF) personnel. The ideal candidate will bring a deep martial arts background, operational experience, and instructional expertise in maritime expeditionary environments. Travel may be required.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Design and execute a progressive martial arts training program that incorporates:
- Self-defense and survival fundamentals
- Body mechanics and tactical movement
- Close-quarters striking using fists, feet, elbows, and knees
- Offensive techniques using multi-angle combinations
- Practical application while wearing military operational gear and in tactical settings
- Provide on-site train-the-trainer instruction
- Develop MESF-specific scenarios and lead instruction during Basic and Advanced phases of training
- Deliver small unit tactics training and support for:
- Advanced Military Operations on Urban Terrain (A-MOUT)
- MESF Tactical Craft Professional Development
- MESF Security Team Professional Development
- Training scheduling and planning
- Coordinate and deliver force combatives training with NECC subordinate units
Qualifications:
- Martial Arts Instructor certification
- Black Belt certification in any martial art, with at least 4 years of experience teaching the following (with and without tactical equipment):
- Ground-fighting and grappling
- Body control and submission
- Close-quarters striking (hand-to-hand combat)
- Knife and stick techniques
- Detainee-handling and compliant/noncompliant cuffing, escorting, and marshaling consistent with U.S. Navy VBSS COI standards
- Experience with MESF tactical operations
- Ability to safely plan and assess MESF boat tactics training in classroom and underway environments using ORM, Navy Mission Essential Tasks, training plans, and scripted scenarios
- Tactical operations planning experience including development and delivery of concepts of operations, patrol coordination, and mission debriefs
- One of the following certifications or equivalents:
- Expeditionary Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor
- USMC Close Quarter Battle Team Member (MOS 8154)
- Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat (SFAUC)
- Current Basic First Aid/CPR certification
- U.S. Citizenship
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience delivering instructor-led training
- Graduate of Navy Security Reaction Force Advanced (SRF-A) or Non-Compliant Boarding VBSS course
- Graduate of Crew Served Weapons Operations and Maintenance (CSW O&M) or Crew Served Weapons Instructor (CSWI) course
- Proficiency with computer-based instructional aids and classroom training technologies
- High personal standards of technical knowledge and professionalism in training delivery
- Ability to perform effectively in a military environment
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy organization and rank structure
- Above-average communication skills and ability to follow and deliver clear verbal and written instruction
Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
