Receive and disburse money in establishments other than financial institutions. Usually involves use of electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment. Often involved in processing credit or debit card transactions and validating checks./ppstrongESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/strong/ppReceive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.nbsp;/ppIssue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.nbsp;/ppCount money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.nbsp;/ppGreet customers entering store.nbsp;/ppMaintain clean and orderly checkout areas.nbsp;/ppEstablish or identify prices of goods, services or admission, and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.nbsp;/ppIssue trading stamps, and redeem food stamps and coupons.nbsp;/ppResolve customer complaints./ppAnswer customers' questions and provide information on procedures or policies.nbsp;/ppCash checks for customers.nbsp;/ppWeigh items sold by weight to determine prices.nbsp;/ppCalculate total payments received during a time period and reconcile this with total sales./ppCompute and record totals of transactions.nbsp;/ppSell tickets and other items to customers.nbsp;/ppBag, box, wrap, or gift-wrap merchandise, and prepare packages for shipment.nbsp;/ppProcess merchandise returns and exchanges.nbsp;/ppRequest information or assistance using paging systems.nbsp;/ppStock shelves, and mark prices on shelves and items./ppCompile and maintain non-monetary reports and records.nbsp;/ppMonitor checkout stations to ensure that they have adequate cash available and that they are staffed appropriately.nbsp;/ppOffer customers carry-out service at the completion of transactions.nbsp;/ppObserve schedule shift hours as assigned by store manager and/or assistant manager.nbsp;/ppAbide by all city, county, state, and federal regulations.nbsp;/ppGive all customers prompt and courteous service.nbsp;/ppPerform specific tasks as assigned by store manager and/or assistant manager.nbsp;/ppNotify store manager and/or assistant manager of all cash discrepancies.nbsp;/ppOperate shift within Company guidelines to achieve sales and profit.nbsp;/ppProperly record all shift hours worked on the time clock.
