PC Technician - Entry Level

Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware./p pnbsp;/p pstrongQUALIFICATIONS:/strong/p puMinimum Education/Certification:/u/p pAssociates degree from an accredited community or junior college/p pOR/p pEquivalent work training experience/p pClear and valid driverrsquo;s license/p pnbsp;/p puSpecial Knowledge/Skills:/u/p pDemonstrate diagnostic skills pertaining to PC hardware/p pMinimal experience working with Wintel and Macintosh PCrsquo;s and associated Operating Systems/p pExperience working with printers from Hewlett Packard, Dell, etc., and various laser printers and inkjets/p pMinimal experience with Network Operating Systems/p pMinimal experience with various network topologies including Ethernet/p pMinimal experience with various smart phones/p pPossess strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills required to achieve departmental goals and work with school personnel/p pAbility to multi-task/p pSuccessful experience in working as part of a group or as an individual/p pnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;/p pstrongWork Conditions/strong/p pstrongTools/Equipment Used: /strongHand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; personal computers and peripherals;/p pstrongPosture: /strongProlonged sitting and standing; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; reach fully above head/p pstrongMotion: /strongRepetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders; manual dexterity/p pstrongLifting: /strongModerate lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (50 pounds and over)/p pstrongEnvironment: /strongExposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel/p pstrongMental Demands: /strongWork with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress/p pstrongRegular attendance is an essential function/strong/p pnbsp;/p puMinimum Experience:/u/p p3 or more years of successful experience in a similar position/p pPreference will be given to candidates with experience and certification in installation/repair of the above mentioned equipment/software/p pnbsp;/p pstrongMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/strong/p ol liInstall, configure, maintain, and upgrade computers and peripherals, network cabling, and network peripherals throughout the district. Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed./li liProvide technical assistance to users of computers, instructional equipment, and software./li liInstall and configure application and operating system software and upgrades./li liAssist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications circuits and equipment./li liAssist with the organization and distribution of technology-based material for classroom use./li liDiagnose and repair network connectivity and hardware issues, including printers, terminals, and personal computers./li liRemove old equipment and perform data migration to new machines./li liService equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedule. Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance./li liMaintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service./li liMaintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and other equipment and material at assigned site(s)./li liIdentify, request, and control the inventory of repair parts./li liCompile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents./li liRespond to after-hours emergencies as needed./li liFollow district safety protocols and emergency procedures./li liComply with state, district, and school regulations and policies including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics/li liPerform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned./li /ol
