When you know you’re making an authentic impact, you give a little extra to every day— as a person, with your team, in your community—and that’s one of the reasons why you’ll be a perfect fit at LCMC Health, where giving a little something extra is at the heart of everything we do./pp/ppbuGENERAL DUTIES/u/b/pp​bCast Application/Removal: /b/pulliApplies, adjusts, and removes casts, splints, and traction under the direct supervision of Orthopedic providers./liliObserves patients for any breaks in skin integrity and reports these to the nurse, physician, or provider./liliEducates/assists with the implementation of a plan of care in the areas of traction, casts amp; splints, and halo devices./li/ulp/ppbInpatient Liaison: /b/pulliServes as a resource to nursing personnel when consulted concerning various types of traction, modifications, and complications./liliProvides patient with written information regarding cast care./liliProvides education regarding complications of plaster casts, causes, and treatments./liliEducates/assists nursing staff with use of Hoyer lifts for patient mobility and bed scales for accurate weights./liliAssists hospital Lift team with lifts when needed and assists Patient transporters to move patients as needed./li/ulp/ppbMaintain supplies, equipment and room: /b/pulliOrders supplies and maintains supply levels./liliMaintains the Cast Room in a clean and orderly condition./liliCleans all equipment using proper technique./li/ulp/ppbFinancial: /b/pulliAppropriately charges for supplies and equipment./li/ulp/ppbOR Coverage: /b/pulliAssists orthopedic surgeons in the operating room./li/ulpbr /buEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS/u/b/ppCombination of appropriate education and work experience is required:/pulliHigh School Diploma or equivalent with 1 year of experience in Orthopedics in a clinical/hospital setting./lili2 years of work experience will be considered in lieu of education./li/ulpbr /buLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS/u/b/pulliBasic Life Support Health Care Provider American Heart Association/li/ulp/ppbuKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES/u/b/pulliMust be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing./liliMust have basic training of the nursing assistant, medical corpsman and EMT training./liliMust be able to make judgments, decisions regarding patient care in a sometimes-distracting environment and with time constraints./liliMust set priorities to provide the most effective, efficient patient care, frequently under pressure of multiple and simultaneous activities./liliKnowledge and/or training of sterilization and infection control protocols./li/ulp style="text-align:inherit"/pp style="text-align:left"bWORK SHIFT: /b/pp style="text-align:inherit"/pVariable Hours (United States of America)p style="text-align:left"spanbspanLCMC Health is a community./span/b/spanspanspan /span/span/pp style="text-align:left"spanspanOur people make health happen.
