pstrongAbode/strong, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a strongNight Manager/strong for our programs in Alameda County./p pstrongAbout The Role/strong: In exchange for reduced rent housing, the strongNight Manager/strong is responsible for providing the afterhours management presence in coordination with or in the absence of the onsite Property Manager. Ensures common area buildings are secured after-hours. Responds to on-site emergencies during nights and weekends./p pstrongCompensation: /strongThe duties of the strongNight Manager/strong shall be compensated through the provision of a reduced rent on-site large one bedroom apartment unit. The reduction of rent will be considered a stipend income for tax purposes. The reduced rent benefit shall be compensation for responding to emergencies on nights and weekends and for approximately 2-10 hours/week worked at the property performing the duties of the Night Manager. People of color make up nearly 70% of our workforce and we strive to recruit and retain employees from all backgrounds. /p pstrongHow You Make An Impact:/strong/p ul liResponds to emergency calls beginning at 5:00 p.m. through 9:00 a.m., Monday night through Friday morning and on weekends and holidays as on-call schedule dictates, or in the absence of Property Manager. While the Night Manager does not have to always be onsite nights and weekends, they do have to typically be onsite or nearby most of the time and available by cell phone during those times when they are away from the property. They should be within about an hour drive unless they have notified their supervisor that they will be unavailable for resident manager duties and have made other arrangements for coverage./li liAs assigned or needed, performs light maintenance or janitorial duties such as turning off the water valve on a toilet or sink, vacuum water with a wet vacuum and setting up fans in cases of flooding, litter collection during site walks, locking the laundry room, reviewing security camera video, etc./li liExercises good judgment and discretion to call for other staff or 911 for help in an emergency. Contacts on-call vendors for maintenance emergencies./li liDirects emergency personnel to various parts of grounds, buildings or unit, as appropriate. Remains present while emergency staff is on-site./li liWithin 24 hours, records any incidents, unusual occurrences or emergency/after-hours calls on the incident report form and notifies Manager./li liWalks the interior of the common areas and exterior of the property, including the parking areas at least once during each evening. Inspects and turns off lights and ensures all doors and windows in the common areas are locked, and any alarms are set./li liEnforces quiet hours and house rules. Cautions residents regarding complaints about excessive noise, disorderly conduct or misuse of property./li /ul pstrongHow You Meet Qualifications:/strong/p ul liTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily./li liAbility to climb 4 flights of stairs at least once per day./li liAbility to lift and carry 25 pounds./li liAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals./li liAbility to write routine reports and correspondence./li liAbility to communicate effectively with residents or employees of organization./li liAbility to stay calm in emergency situations and de-escalate situations with agitated residents./li liAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form./li liAbility to work with a minimum of supervision./li liProperty management experience preferred./li /ul pstrongNotice/strong: This description is to be used as a guide only.
