DSPs at ILC provide support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a variety of settings to ensure they have a meaningful life. As a DSP, you will be responsible for maintaining consistent engagement with the people you are supporting, whether they are at home or out in the community. You will be required to work independently, create safe environments, and provide accurate documentation for the support provided during every shift. Duties may include:/pulliSupporting people in understanding and exercising their rights/liliEncouraging people to live a fulfilling life as independently as possible through self-advocacy/liliProviding the best person-centered supports to meet people’s needs throughout their lives/liliSupporting and encouraging positive interactions/liliImproving social connections and relationships/liliProviding transportation for those you are supporting/liliTeaching skills to improve a person’s life/liliSupporting and encouraging participation in groups or organizations in line with a person’s personal interests to meet recreational and social needs/liliUtilizing Positive Support Programs to guide daily interactions/liliSupporting a person with personal hygiene and medical-related needs, including medication administration/liliProviding documentation at the end of each shift/li/ulpstrongVocational: Monday through Fridays during the Day/strong/ppstrongResidential: Evenings, Weekends, and Overnights/strong/ppDSPs who work at ILC residential and vocational locations support individuals with planned activities that encourage community inclusion, habilitation, and activities of daily living./ppbr//ppstrongSupported Services: Days, Evenings, Weekends/strong/ppAs a DSP with ILC working in Supported Services, you will be supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at their jobs, in the community, and in their homes.
