Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level 4 designated maternal center in Austin, TX, requiring high-risk maternal experience and fetal monitoring certification.

• Located on the 3rd floor of an acute care hospital in Austin, TX
\n
• Level 4 designated maternal center — the highest level of maternal care in Texas — caring for complex patients at any gestation
\n
• 22-bed unit with 16 labor beds
\n
• Patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:1 depending on acuity
\n
• Procedures performed include vaginal and cesarean section deliveries, tubal ligations, cerclage placement and removal, D&C, C-hysterectomy, and PASD cases
\n
• EMR systems used: CPN and Meditech
\n
• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
\n
• 13-week contract
\n
• 4 weekend shifts per schedule block required
\n
• No on-call requirements
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active TX RN license or a compact RN license currently in hand
\n
• Certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC accepted), AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced), and NRP Advanced 9th Edition
\n
• Minimum 1 year of recent L&D experience required
\n
• Experience with high-risk maternal patients required
\n
• Circulating OR and triage experience required
\n
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
\n
• One professional reference required
\n
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
\n
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
\n

• Experience greater than 5 years is preferred and will be prioritized
\n
• The unit supports a wide range of complex obstetric cases and surgical procedures in a fast-paced environment
\n
• Day shift staffing typically includes 1 charge nurse, a minimum of 2 surgical techs, 1 unit clerk, and staff RNs based on census
\n
• Team-oriented unit — a collaborative, adaptable personality is a strong fit for this environment
\n
• Navy blue scrubs required
\n
• Unit is led by long-tenured leadership; the Manager and Director participate in patient care when census requires
\n
• The unit is currently undergoing room renovations
\n
• Recognized as America's Best Maternity Hospital 2023 by Newsweek and holds a Leapfrog Grade A rating

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
