Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hybrid Remote SALT Director to join our dynamic Accounting + Finance team. This position offers a unique opportunity to play a leading role in our organization, working in a collaborative environment to drive our tax strategies and initiatives forward. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of multistate, local, income, franchise tax, indirect tax, tax planning, use tax, and returns.

Responsibilities:

As a SALT Director, your key responsibilities will include:

1. Overseeing and managing all aspects of state and local tax (SALT) compliance, including income, franchise, indirect, and use tax returns.
2. Developing and implementing effective tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize compliance with state and local tax laws.
3. Leading and coordinating audits by state and local jurisdictions, representing the company in any tax disputes or negotiations.
4. Keeping abreast of current developments and changes in SALT laws and regulations, advising management on the impact of such changes on the company's tax position.
5. Collaborating with other departments, including Finance and Legal, to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance.
6. Providing expert advice and guidance on complex SALT issues, including the impact of new business initiatives or acquisitions.
7. Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of tax professionals, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

1. A minimum of 7 years of experience in a senior SALT role, preferably within the Accounting + Finance industry.
2. A strong understanding of multistate, local, income, franchise tax, indirect tax, tax planning, use tax, and returns.
3. Proven experience in managing tax audits and disputes, with a track record of successful resolutions.
4. Excellent knowledge of current SALT laws and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply such laws to real-world business scenarios.
5. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound decisions.
7. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues in a clear and understandable manner.
8. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA, Masters in Taxation, or JD is preferred.
