We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Assistant to support our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon during a variety of procedures, including surgical extractions, implants, orthognathic surgeries, biopsies, and more. This is a patient-facing role requiring precision, compassion, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Take diagnostic-quality x-rays of the maxilla, mandible, and facial structures.
- Accurately review, verify, and document patient health histories.
- Effectively communicate treatment plans with the treatment coordinator and surgical team.
- Monitor and record vital signs during consultations and procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines.
- Assist during surgical procedures with suctioning, airway management, instrument handling, and patient communication.
- Support post-operative recovery, providing reassurance and clear instructions to patients.
- Help safely transfer patients to and from the surgical chair, recovery area, and vehicles.
- 1+ year of experience as an Oral Surgery Assistant or Dental Assistant is preferred.
- Certified as DAI, DAII, or CDA.
- DAANCE certification (Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination) preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Familiarity with dental EHR systems (experience with [insert system if applicable] a plus).
- Knowledge of universal precautions, sterilization, and infection control protocols.
