Responsibilities:
  • Assist students in the development of knowledge, concepts, generalizations, principles, appreciation, and attitudes that promote their growth.
  • Provide an educational program within the classroom and assist in other school programs as required by district policy.
  • Demonstrate effective planning and preparation for instruction through knowledge of therapy areas and communication development.
  • Establish learning targets, goals, objectives, and program goals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of regulations and resources.
  • Plan and evaluate the therapy program, including assessments for learning.
  • Create an environment conducive to learning by fostering respect and rapport.
  • Organize time effectively and manage clear procedures.
  • Establish standards of conduct and organize physical space.
  • Respond to referrals and develop/implement treatment plans.
  • Communicate with families and collect information/writing detailed reports.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in service delivery.
  • Reflect on practice and collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and guardians.
  • Maintain an effective data system and participate in professional learning communities.
  • Grow and develop professionally while showing professionalism.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Speech Pathology or Audiology.
  • Current physical certification indicating capability of performing job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Possess English language skills for effective communication.
  • Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of professional responsibilities.
  • Appropriate Illinois State Board of Education Certification (PEL) with SLPN Endorsement; Pre-K through Age 22.
