Position Summary:

Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a child watch setting. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.


Essential Functions:

  1. Maintains and updates schedules.
  2. Creates supply lists.
  3. Ensures childcare rooms are clean and sanitized and cleaning supplies are available.
  4. Updates director on any staffing or childcare incidents
  5. Supervises the children, playroom, and all activities.
  6. Maintains program site and equipment and adheres to standards including safety and cleanliness.
  7. Attending staff meetings and training.
  8. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  9. Maintains required program records.
  10. Maintains positive relations and communication with children, parents, and other staff.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  1. High school graduate or volunteer experience.
  2. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 60 days of hire date.
  3. At least 17 years of age
  4. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  5. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.


Physical Demands:

Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of settings. Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
