Occupational Therapy Assistant

About the Role:

The PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Laurel will play a crucial role in supporting occupational therapists in helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals. This position involves working closely with individuals who have physical, emotional, or developmental challenges, assisting them in improving their daily living skills. The COTA will implement treatment plans designed by occupational therapists, monitor patient progress, and provide feedback to the therapy team. A key outcome of this role is to enhance the quality of life for patients by promoting independence and facilitating their reintegration into daily activities. Ultimately, the COTA contributes to a collaborative healthcare environment that prioritizes patient-centered care and effective rehabilitation strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
• Current certification or licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the relevant state.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a clinical or rehabilitation setting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
• Conduct therapeutic activities and exercises under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the occupational therapist.
• Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques and strategies to enhance daily living skills.
• Maintain a clean and organized therapy environment, ensuring all equipment is safe and functional.
