Automotive Shop Foreman

The Automotive Shop Foreman at Ice Cold Air is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service department and ensuring high-quality vehicle repairs and maintenance. This position supervises technicians, coordinates workflow, and maintains a safe, efficient, and customer-focused work environment. They often handle more complex repairs and diagnoses, acting as a leader and problem - solver for the team.

Key Responsibilities


Supervision and Leadership:
  • Supervise and assist with recruitment, hiring, and motivating qualified service technicians.
  • Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support to develop team skills and ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Quality Assurance and Operations:
  • Monitor and inspect completed repairs for thoroughness and quality.
  • Road test vehicles to verify workmanship and safety.
  • Assign repair jobs fairly and efficiently to technicians.
  • Ensure all repairs are charged out correctly and completed on time.

Customer Service:
  • Handle customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain customer follow-up programs to confirm satisfaction.
  • Maintain open communication with customers regarding repair status and changes.
Administrative and Documentation:
  • Account for all service documents and ensure proper processing.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inventory, and work orders.
  • Submit daily reports and communicate with management on shop status.
Inventory and Resource Management:
  • Order parts and supplies as needed and maintain inventory levels.
  • Ensure proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools and equipment.
  • Recommend new equipment purchases and stay current with industry advancements.
Teamwork and Communication:
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors, parts department, and other managers.
  • Fill in for service advisors or dispatchers when necessary.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary automotive training preferred.
  • 5 years of experience as a mechanic or automotive specialist.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in an automotive environmen

  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of automotive systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and assist with complex vehicle repairs.
  • Familiarity with manufacturer warranty procedures and technical bulletins.
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Work Environment


  • Fast-paced automotive service shop.
  • Frequent interaction with customers, technicians, and management.
  • May require standing for long periods and occasional lifting.
