About the Role: Your Contribution as a Journeyman Carpenter
As a Journeyman Carpenter at Springwood Builders, you'll be a vital part of our field team, showcasing your growing finesse and efficiency in the craft. You'll provide essential next-level support to our Crew Leads, capably handling various tasks independently while continuing to refine your skills. This role is perfect for a carpenter eager for growth, ready to demonstrate competence across multiple key areas, and work towards becoming a future Crew Leader.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute basic and intermediate carpentry tasks with precision and efficiency, including cutting, marking, framing, and trim work.
Install vanities, baseboards, interior trim, and doors, ensuring high-quality finishes.
Work with decking materials and perform basic tile installations.
Handle demolition tasks properly and safely.
Provide competent support to Crew Leads, demonstrating proficiency in various aspects of residential carpentry.
Manage tasks independently when directed, showing initiative and reliability.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times.
Proactively identify and address potential issues or material shortages, communicating effectively with the Crew Leader or Field Manager.
Consistently arrive on time and manage your time effectively on site.
Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure proper tool usage.
Engage professionally in client interactions when necessary.
Demonstrate a "one-team" mindset, assisting others and contributing to a collaborative environment.
What We're Looking For: Your Skills & Qualities
We're seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Journeyman Carpenter who is eager to learn, grow, and consistently improve their craft.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proven experience as a Journeyman Carpenter or equivalent level of proficiency in residential construction.
Solid understanding of basic framing and trim techniques.
Proficiency in general carpentry tasks, including cutting, marking, and proper tool usage.
Ability to install intermediate carpentry elements such as vanities, baseboards, doors, and decking.
Competence in basic tile work.
Proficient with a tape measure and other common carpentry tools.
Strong commitment to site cleanliness and safety.
Proactive work ethic; always looking for tasks to complete without needing constant direction.
Excellent communication skills and a willingness to provide and receive constructive feedback.
Team player mentality with a focus on collaboration.
Reliable transportation to and from the Winterport shop daily.
Ability to lift over 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks (standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing).

Working Conditions
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, which may include exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind). You'll frequently encounter loud noise, dust, debris, and potentially hazardous materials. The role requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and climbing for extended periods, and may involve working at heights, in confined spaces, or around heavy machinery. The typical work schedule includes early mornings (starting at 6:30 AM from the Winterport shop) and occasional overtime based on project needs. Travel to different job sites is required.
