Job Description
Collaborates with Research and Development (R&D) and Regulatory Compliance for raw material and finished product approval.
● Monitors and reacts to trends or emerging issues that could negatively affect performance by engaging the appropriate functions and process owners.
● Audits first runs with R & D to ensure manufacturing understanding and compliance with safe food products, specifications, and work instructions.
● Develops and maintains up to date quality procedures and programs. Documents the same in the form of a company Quality Assurance manual, Food Safety Plan(s), and/or Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Plans.
● Assists Regulatory Compliance in ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and firms such as FDA, ODA, USDA/Organic, and Kosher for third party auditors
● Serves as the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Practitioner.
● Coordinates training and audit for QA programs including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, and sanitation.
● Works in conjunction with R & D to administer the manufacturing testing and retention program.
● Coordinates with laboratories when testing or research is external.
● Audits lot integrity by spot checking work orders, shipping and receiving documents, mock trace exercises and food defense assessments. ● Audits shipping and receiving documents.
● Maintains revision control for QA documents (e.g.: processes, policy relating to QA, Manufacturing, Shipping/Receiving, and Inventory Control) and implements process of record review, verification, and validation.
● Coordinates and manages the company’s HACCP Plan and all other Food Safety and Quality Programs and necessary training.
● Responsible for maintaining and improving all FSQ programs in conjunction with Regulatory Compliance and other relevant departments. Allergen control, and foreign material control.
● Coordinates with cross-functional teams to determine root cause and corrective actions
● Manages QA technicians and trains employees on Food Safety Management systems.
● Effectively communicates with all department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, and policies
