Our Mountain View, CA (San Jose) aerospace client is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join as a salaried direct employee, with a salary range of $180K - $237K.

Note: Candidates must have microwave products experience to be considered.

The Mechanical Engineering Manager will oversee Mechanical, CAD, and Document Control teams. Responsibilities include leading the design and development of complex custom integrated microwave assemblies (IMAs) and microwave amplifiers, managing the Document Control team, and ensuring efficient document management and system operation.

  1. Lead the Mechanical Engineering team in designing and developing complex IMAs and microwave amplifiers.

  2. Guide the NPI Engineering team for seamless product transfers to production.

  3. Oversee Document Control to manage released documents and maintain electronic systems.

  4. Manage employee development and operational improvements within the mechanical design group, including recruiting and standardizing best practices.

  5. Handle mechanical concepts creation, mechanical design, validation, and product release, along with investigation and standardization of mechanical structures for cost and performance improvements.

  6. Design and verify automated test equipment (ATE) and plan product transfers for manufacturing efficiency.

  7. Drive methodology and procedural improvements for operational efficiency.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Create innovative mechanical concepts focusing on SWaP, automation, and reliability.

  • Develop mechanical proposals, analyze hardware, and communicate designs effectively.

  • Prepare test methods, specifications, and conduct hardware testing.

  • Lead design reviews (PDR, CDR, PRR) and deliver presentations to stakeholders.

  • Design and verify ATE, and facilitate product transfer from engineering to production.

  • Stay informed on technological trends to enhance industry competitiveness, especially in SWaP, time-to-market, and customer needs.

Job Requirements

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field.
  • At least 15 years of experience in microelectronics packaging, microwave testing, and manufacturing transfer of microwave products.
  • Experience with RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave subsystem design, analysis, validation, and automation.
  • Design experience for environments such as combat, flight, and space.
  • Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools (ANSYS, LabVIEW, SolidWorks) and electronic documentation/ERP platforms.
  • Ability to lead initial subsystem conceptualization, review design progress, and manage team execution.
  • Experience managing and developing technical staff.
  • Proficiency with mechanical design software like SolidWorks; Ansys expertise is a plus.
  • Experience with electronic documentation tools (Arena, Agile) is advantageous.
  • Background in driving innovation and automation in microelectronic assemblies.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. government secret clearance in the future. It is located at an ITAR facility and is with a U.S. Defense Contractor. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and not currently on F-1 OPT STEM status.
