The Maintenance Technician II will use skills to support the maintenance team in repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and pneumatic systems throughout the building. They will have the opportunity to install, maintain and repair conveyance and distribution equipment and other warehouse parts-moving equipment, and diagnose and troubleshoot such machinery and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on conveyors and other parts-moving equipment at customer sites to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all material handling equipment which includes belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and more.
- Implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, including evenings and weekends, to address critical issues such as equipment breakdowns or facility safety concerns.
- Track and store department inventory.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and parts inventory.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies and participates in safety training and initiatives.
- Identify and order necessary replacement parts and materials to maintain efficient inventory levels.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings in maintenance activities.
- Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all teams.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned by the manager.
- Utilize CMMS system for labor and material tracking
- Occasional travel may be required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulics and general upkeep of conveyors and other warehouse parts-moving equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, vocational, or technical training in maintenance or a related field.is preferred.
- Requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role.
Physical Requirements:
- Move up to 75 pounds of various shaped and sized loads.
- Be able to effectively use all hand tools and equipment required for the position for the duration of the shift. Some tools require repetitive motions.
- Sit at a desk for prolonged periods, at times the entirety of the shift.
- Stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Climb up stairs and ladders of tall heights at times over 100 feet tall.
- Abie to work in tight and confined spaces.
- Able to climb over crossovers while product is moving.
- Be prepared to work nights and weekends as needed.
