Job Title: Night Shift Machine Shop Supervisor
Shift: 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM
Reports To: Machine Shop Manager

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Night Shift Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee operations during the night shift. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring production efficiency, safety, and quality. The Supervisor will serve as the primary point of contact for night shift machinists, providing technical support, guidance, and direct assistance when needed. A key part of this role is ensuring continuity across shifts through clear communication and collaboration with the day shift team. Promotes a culture of mutual respect and professionalism across all shifts. Maintains positive and constructive communication with team members and colleagues, refraining from gossip or disparaging remarks about others. Supports a collaborative environment where all employees are valued and treated with dignity, regardless of shift or role.

Leads by example in fostering a respectful, inclusive, and professional work environment across all shifts. Encourages open, constructive communication and actively discourages gossip, divisive behavior, or negative commentary about other team members or shifts. Promotes unity and collaboration to ensure seamless operations and mutual respect between day and night shift personnel

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the main point of contact for machinists during the night shift, addressing questions, concerns, and operational issues.
• Lead by example and provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and mentoring to support team development and consistent performance.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to reduce downtime and maintain production.
• Assist with programming and operating machines as needed to maintain production schedules and meet quality expectations.
• Step in to run various machines or provide support across the shop floor when workloads demand additional help.
• Support and participate in the training of new and existing team members.
• Monitor shift workflow and production output; identify and implement solutions to address bottlenecks or delays.
• Ensure communication with the day shift team during shift handoffs, including updates on job status, equipment conditions, and outstanding issues.
• At shift end, verify that all equipment is properly shut down and the facility is fully secured before leaving.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role.
• Strong technical background in machining and CNC programming.
• Hands-on experience operating a variety of machine shop equipment.
• Proven leadership and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced production environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
