Job Description
- Set up, operate, and maintain sample tufting machines, including:
- Strike sample tufting machines
- Itron tufting machines (including creeling)
- Shear head and coater equipment
- Operate additional machinery as needed, such as the backwinder.
- Perform general mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting on tufting equipment.
- Assist in facility maintenance and repair tasks.
- Work safely at heights using ladders, scissor lifts, and articulating boom lifts.
- Drive and operate lift trucks and box trucks to support production needs.
- Fill in for the department lead when necessary.
- Read and interpret measurements with micrometers (to .001") and tape measures (to 1/32").
- Follow all safety, operational, and maintenance procedures as directed.
- Perform any other duties requested from the Lead or Department Manager.
- Proven mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform heavy physical work.
- Basic math skills and ability to read, write, and communicate clearly.
- Ability to work under, on top of, and around large machinery and equipment.
- Experience or willingness to learn tufting machine operation and maintenance.
- Ability to follow instructions from senior mechanics and supervisors.
- Must be flexible and available for overtime and weekend shifts as needed.
- Must have had no written disciplinary actions in the last 6 months.
- Working knowledge of electrical circuits and systems a plus.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to stand, climb, bend, and lift heavy objects as needed.
- 1 year of experience in general Tufting maintenance preferred.
