Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after reviewing the application.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at initial appointment are deemed qualified.

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
  • Completion of residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification
  • Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and are not considered independent practitioners
  • Proficiency in English
  • Preferred: Board Certified/Eligible, additional certifications or fellowship training
  • Physical requirements include sedentary work with periods of walking, standing, bending, and lifting (15-44 lbs), and other physical activities

Duties

  • This is an open continuous announcement, extended until filled, with referrals at regular intervals

  • Seeking a board-certified/eligible Physiatrist with experience in neuro-muscular rehabilitation, injections, ultrasound guidance, electromyography, and botulinum toxin injections
  • Develops treatment plans, manages spasticity, provides injections, evaluates post-concussive conditions, prescribes adaptive equipment, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team
  • Participates in teaching, data collection, and contributes to facility and national activities to support VAs mission
  • Work schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday
