pstrongPosition Summary:/strong nbsp;The Substation Heavy Equipment Operator’s primary role is to operate heavy machinery in he construction, maintenance, and repair of substations and related equipment. nbsp;/p

pstrongEssential Functions:/strong/p
ul
liWork safely while performing construction, maintenance and/or repair work of nbsp;substation systems./li
liAssist in the transporting, installation, and/or removal of substation structures, equipment, and hardware, electrical conductors, wire, and cable./li
liCapable of or learning to operate various types of heavy equipment:
ul
liBucket, derrick and boom trucks/li
liBackhoes, excavators and skid steer loaders/li
liArticulating Man-lifts/li
liPressure Diggers/li
liTrenchers/li
liTrack Crawler Loader/Backhoe/li
liRough Terrain Telescopic Forklifts/li
/ul/li
liRead and interpret profile, blueprints, maps, or other written instructions for completion of assigned tasks./li
liDoes all other related work as required to complete the job./li
liResponsible for maintaining company vehicles in good working condition./li

pstrongMinimum Requirements:/strong/p
ul
liA minimum of 2 years of experiencenbsp;/li
liAble to perform rigorous physical labor./li
liAble to read and understand simple blueprints, maps, and diagrams./li
liAble to identify energized high and low voltage lines./li
liBasic knowledge in electricity./li
liKnowledge of safety hazards inherent in working in close proximity to energized high and low voltage lines and equipment./li
liKnowledge of the Motor Vehicle Code as it relates to the operation of heavy equipment in the state the job is located./li
liMust supply own personal hand tools required by the company for this work./li
liMust supply own safety toed work boots./li
liMust be capable of lifting in excess of 50 lbs/li
liCapable of receiving and following directions./li
liMust possess or be capable of obtaining a Commercial Drivers’ License./li
liCapable of working at heights and/or confined spaces./li
liUnderstands minimum approach distance./li
liCapable of checking voltage./li
liWilling to work over-time or long hours during emergency conditions and/or when requested. Schedules can change frequently and with short notice./li
li90% Travel Required/li
liCapable of following Company safety rules and policies./li
liWillingnbsp; to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position./li

pWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.nbsp;/p
