The Supervising Construction Inspector is responsible for a major segment of a program area of construction projects and for supervising staff./p/dd/dlundefinedbr/undefined/ph2Position Duties/h2pul style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" id="isPasted"liProvides leadership, direction, organization, and management to professional and technical staff engaged in inspection functions of the Development Services Division;brnbsp;/liliAdvises the Development Services Manager on technical and policy matters, and identifies and leads organizational and process improvement initiatives;brnbsp;/liliInterviews, selects, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates and disciplines staff;brnbsp;/liliAssists in the development, preparation and implementation of the division budget, including development of justification for budget proposals, and the managing of expenditures and revenues;brnbsp;/liliAdvises and collaborates with the Principal Development Services Engineer, utilities, land and water companies, developers and County departments in matters of permitting, inspection and code compliance for multidisciplinary projects;brnbsp;/liliEvaluates and reviews the work of inspectors;brnbsp;/liliReviews and approves plans for buildings, structures, equipment installations, repairs, replacements and alterations for conformance to the applicable codes and ordinances with regard to specific trade specialty;brnbsp;/liliProvides information to builders and the general public regarding requirements of codes and ordinances;brnbsp;/liliAdvises or assists inspectors regarding unusual construction and inspection problems;brnbsp;/liliResolves complaints or disagreements that may develop between the inspectors and others;brnbsp;/liliAssists in the development, revision and interpretation of the provisions of the codes and ordinances, and in the planning and evaluation of the inspection program;brnbsp;/liliMakes inspection of alleged violations and determines nature and extent of any violations;brnbsp;/liliProvides general assistance to homeowners, builders, etc., regarding required action to correct a violation;brnbsp;/liliPrepares and processes forms and records on the enforcement activities related to code violations, including issuing citations that may require court appearances and coordination with the Court, District Attorney's Office, County Counsel, Sheriff's Office and/or other county agencies;brnbsp;/liliInspects complex buildings, structures and site developments to see that the construction, alteration or maintenance work being performed complies with the approved plans or specifications and applicable ordinances;brnbsp;/liliChecks to see that the building, structures and site development are being constructed in a safe manner;brnbsp;/liliProvides operational coordination between Building and Land Development sections and the Fire Marshal section of the Development Services Division of the Department of Planning and Development;brnbsp;/liliIssues certificates of final inspection;brnbsp;/liliManages the reconciliation of property tax revenue accounts;brnbsp;/liliRenders interpretation of codes and performs the more difficult or more specialized inspections;brnbsp;/liliServes as an assistant to the Building Official;brnbsp;/liliPrepares work summaries, reports and correspondence;brnbsp;/liliMaintains databases, records and performance measures on permitting and compliance activities of the Development Services Division;brnbsp;/liliMay supervise and/or operate satellite offices and/or inspection programs for specific geographical areas of the county, as required;brnbsp;/liliDevelops and implements training programs for inspectors;brnbsp;/liliMay be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker, as required;brnbsp;/liliPerforms related duties, as assigned./li/ul/ph2Minimum Qualifications/h2pp style="margin: 0px 0px 10px;
