pspan style="font-weight: bold"Principal Responsibility: /spanThe Auction Cataloger is responsible for photographing and taking measurements of items consigned for auction following APAA standards for clarity, color, and scale, and for accurately and fairly describing the items photographed in our auction management software./p p /p pspan style="font-weight: bold"Position is:/span Hourly                                                                           span style="font-weight: bold"Position Reports to:/span Cataloging Manager          /p pspan style="font-weight: bold"Position Supports/span: Auction Curator Auction Inventory Laborer/p p /p pspan style="font-weight: bold"The Auction Cataloger is Responsible For:/span/p ol liCheck the APAA Catalogers Communications Chat resource at the beginning of the work shift to identify Lot assignments and other important instructions./li liConsult with the Cataloging Manager to resolve questions or issues about Lot assignments or daily instructions./li liGather a camera phone, tools, and other accessories, and prepare a photography studio to use for the day./li liRetrieve inventory from the Intakes Staging area and move to a photography studio./li liShoot a high volume of inventory by APAA standards for clarity, color, and scale./li liEnsure proper exposure, lighting combinations, color balance, detail accuracy, and focus of items./li liThrough photography, capture and represent proof marks, serial numbers, signatures, unique features present on the item, and any damage also present. Utilize a scale reference model when necessary.  /li liAccurately, completely, and fairly describe the item and its overall condition in the auction Lot./li liOpen and re-package items efficiently./li liMaintain a clean and organized photography studio./li liFollow all rules regarding the return and storage of camera phones, tools, and accessories used for cataloging./li liConsult with the Auction Intakes Department Manager or Outtakes Department Manager when locating items in the warehouse./li liConsistently and accurately record vital information for inventory control measures./li liWorks in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner./li liMay be temporarily assigned to catalog items off-site at clients’ estates or places of business liquidation./li liPerforms other duties as assigned./li /ol p /p pspan style="font-weight: bold"Supervisory Responsibilities/span/p pThis position does not have any supervisory responsibilities./p p /p p /p pspan style="font-weight: bold"Knowledge, Skills Abilities/span/p ol liExperience with a digital camera or smartphone with a camera./li liExperience shooting on a camera stand, tripod, and hand-held, preferred, but not required./li liKnowledge of photography lighting techniques is preferred./li liAbility to accurately estimate project timelines and deliver high-quality completed assignments on time./li liAn eye for detail, shape, color, focus, and form./li liGood communication skills./li liGood organizational skills./li liAbility to meet attendance requirements./li liAbility to maintain a positive, supportive, solution-focused attitude./li liAbility to lift 50 pounds independently safely, and heavier weights with team lift methods safely./li liAbility to stand or sit for extended periods while cataloging inventory./li /ol pspan style="font-weight: bold"Minimum Qualifications/span/p ol liHigh school diploma or GED equivalent./li liA minimum of one year of photography experience and/or training are preferred but not required./li liProficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace Applications./li liValid Alaska Driver’s license/li liAbility to pass a background and reference check./li /ol pspan style="font-weight: bold"Working Environment/span/p pThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  APAA is a locally grown and Alaskan-owned small business that maintains high standards within a fast-paced environment that requires regular attendance and attention to multiple ongoing tasks that may overlap.
