pThe job of Para Educator was established for the purpose/s of assisting (by assignment) the classroom teacher with maintaining classroom order; presenting direct instruction of supplied materials primarily in small groups; performing classroom clerical tasks; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time, and providing supervision before after school, during recess and lunchroom, etc. Assignment areas will be in various classrooms.nbsp;/p

ul
liAssist innbsp;direct instructional services to students under the supervision of a certificated staff member./li
liProvides verbal and/or written communication of observations for the purpose of keeping parents and/or teachers apprised of discipline issues./li
liResponds to inquiries (e.g. students, teachers, administrators, and/or parents) for the purpose of solving problems, providing information and/or directing to other sources./li
liSupervises students in a variety of settings (e.g. playground, cafeteria, bus loading, after school detention, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring student activities to maintain a safe and positive learning environment/li
liAssists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities./li
liAssists students with classroom assignments (e.g. reading and other lessons, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring studentsrsquo; activities and/or responding to requests of students./li
liAssist the teacher with record keeping tasks as directed./li
liAdminister appropriate diagnostic materials as prescribed in program and directed by teacher./li
liWork daily with students in accordance with scheduled times./li
liFacilitate and complete learning experiences designated by the teacher./li
liRecord progress of students on daily task sheets./li
liAssist the teacher in maintaining the safety and well-being of the students.nbsp;/li
liProvide social and academic guidance for students under direction of thenbsp; teacher.nbsp;nbsp;/li
liMaintain appropriate student records./li
liManage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures/li

ul
liProof of High School diploma, or equivalent;/li
liHave one of the following:/li
liAn AA Degree from an accredited academic college or university/li
liA minimum of 72 college quarter credits/li
liHave passed a district-recognized assessment of basic skills and instructional proficiency (currently the ETS test)/li
liCompletion of 14 hours of Fundamental Course of Study training as provided and directed by the District (OSPI and PESB requirement)./li
liSuccessful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check./li
liSuccessful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance./li
liCompletion of federal I-9 form./li
