Job Description
Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Payment Poster and Charge Entry specialist to join our fast-paced medical billing team. This role is responsible for posting payments received via EFT, manual checks and credit cards, entering daily charges (including surgeries), and working denials and rejections. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to multi-task, and comfortable interacting with patients, physicians and insurance companies.
Duties – Payment Posting/Charge Entry
o Post daily receipts (EFT, checks, credit cards)
o Enter daily charges and surgical billing as received
o Generate and process patient statements
o Maintain and monitor insurance aging reports
o Research and reconcile any unidentified or non-posted payments
o Prepare monthly reconciliation spreadsheet for month end close
o Answer incoming calls as needed
Duties – Denials/Rejections
o Follow up on outstanding account balances at 45-365+
o Submit corrected and appealed claims as necessary
o Investigate and follow up on denied or rejected claims
o Contact insurance companies for claim resolution
o Adjust claims for accuracy and compliance
o Assist patients understanding their statements and financial responsibility
o Accept and apply patient payments to their accounts
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma
Experience: Minimum of 2 years billing and coding experience, with knowledge of worker’s Comp billing
Required Knowledge and Skills:
o Strong multi-tasking abilities in dynamic and fast-paced environment
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
o Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows-based applications
o Strong problem-solving and independent decision-making skills
o Quick adaptability to new EMR systems
o High attention to detail
Work Environment
This is an on-site role in a busy medical office setting. The individual must be comfortable handling confidential patient information and managing frequent interruptions while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
