As an Automotive Tech, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles. Their duties include diagnosing issues, performing maintenance tasks like oil changes and tire rotations, and repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts. They also communicate with customers about vehicle problems and recommend repairs.
Diagnosing Vehicle Issues:
Using diagnostic tools and their expertise to identify the root cause of vehicle problems.
Performing Maintenance:
Conducting routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid level checks, tire rotations, and filter replacements.
Repairing and Replacing Parts:
Fixing or replacing worn or damaged parts, including brakes, sensors, wheel bearings, and more.
Communicating with Customers:
Explaining vehicle problems, recommended repairs, and providing cost estimates.
Maintaining Records:
Keeping detailed records of work performed on vehicles.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
• Mechanical Aptitude: A strong understanding of how vehicles work and how different systems interact.
• Diagnostic Skills: The ability to use diagnostic tools and interpret data to identify problems.
• Repair and Maintenance Skills: Proficiency in performing various maintenance tasks and repairs.
• Communication Skills: The ability to explain technical information to customers in a clear and understandable way.
• Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to troubleshoot complex automotive issues and find effective solutions.
• Knowledge of Automotive Systems: A comprehensive understanding of engine, electrical, brake, and other vehicle systems.
• Safety Procedures: Adherence to safety regulations and practices.
Evolving Technology:
• Auto mechanics must stay updated on new vehicle technologies, including electric vehicles and alternative fuel systems.
• Proficient in using computerized diagnostic tools and understanding electronic systems.
