Job Description
An immediate opening for a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping Crate Builder to join our client’s manufacturing team. This position is responsible for custom-building wooden crates, securely packaging heat treat equipment, and preparing shipments for domestic and international delivery. The ideal candidate has woodworking experience, shipping knowledge, and a commitment to safety and quality.
This is a direct hire opportunity with a pay rate ranging between $20.00 - $26.00 per hour depending on experience. With room for growth.
The hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm with possible overtime.
Shipping Crate Builder Responsibilities:
- Construct custom wooden crates and pallets using power tools, saws, and hand tools
- Read blueprints or packing specifications to build crates to size
- Safely and securely package industrial heat treat equipment for transport
- Select appropriate materials (foam, straps, blocking) to prevent damage in transit
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move large or heavy equipment
- Prepare and label shipments accurately for domestic and international delivery
- Coordinate with logistics and production teams to ensure timely outbound shipping
- Load and unload freight safely and efficiently
Shipping Crate Builder Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1-3 years of experience in crate building, carpentry, or industrial shipping
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, tape measures, and shipping paperwork
- Familiar with forklift, pallet jack, and overhead crane operation
- Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs and work in warehouse/shop conditions
- Knowledge of export crate standards is a plus
