JOB SUMMARY

Municipal Engineer provides design leadership on municipal infrastructure and land development projects as part of an infrastructure or capital improvement project team; ensures that projects and developments comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including grants, and assists in the management of the city's infrastructure budget.

Ideal candidates will have experience in public works, engineering, or related fields. Candidate must be proficient with engineering software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS and Microsoft Office; must be able to interpret electronic information, contour drawings and aerial mapping; must be able to work well in a dynamic team environment and build effiective working relationships with the public and other agencies; must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time under pressure and able to work independently and make decisions in the absence of a supervisor. Exceptional communications and organizational skills a must. Candidate should preferably have a Georgia Professional Engineering license or the ability to get a license, have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam, and be registered as an Engineer Intern. Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from a four (4) year ABET/EAC accredited university, with experience, and be a graduate from a four-year accredited Engineering School.

Education and Experience:


  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have a High School diploma.
  • Graduate from a four year ABET accredited Engineering School with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering fundamentals.
  • Knowledge and experience with Autocad Civil 3D in plan production is preferred.
  • Possesses basic oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in team settings.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with associates, public and other agencies.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

The environmental working conditions of this position include working inside and very frequently being subjected to low noise.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasionally, employee works outside with exposure to hazardous machinery, electrical hazards, wet surroundings, loud noise, high/low temperatures and dust or fumes.
