Participate in program faculty meetings. Maintain college standards regarding professionalism, record keeping, and instruction within the Allied Health department faculty team of the Medical Assistant program. nbsp;/ppustrongSupervision Receivednbsp;/strong/u/ppThe dean, in consultation with the Allied Health Director and the Health Professions Education Coordinator is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department director and Health Professions Education Coordinator in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levelsu./u/p/ph2Position Duties/h2pp id="isPasted"br/pol style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"liInstructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate./liliAdvises students on matters of program goals and course requirements, scheduling office hours as required./liliPrepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate./liliDevelops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course./liliParticipates as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities./liliParticipates in curriculum planning and development as needed./liliServes as a member of college-wide standing committees, screening committees, and other related activities as assigned./liliParticipates in the development of the quarterly class schedule and the annual departmental budget; initiates purchase requisitions, travel requests, and work orders as needed./liliEngages in regular professional growth activity based on the objectives established in an approved professional manner./liliRepresents the program and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner./liliResponsible for departmental equipment: participates in periodic inventory and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department./liliPerforms other duties as assigned./li/ol/ph2Minimum Qualifications/h2pp id="isPasted"ustrongEducation/strong/ustrong:/strong For Phlebotomy courses, PBT (ASCP) current certification required and previous teaching experience preferred. Current CPR/First AID card, HIPPA and OSHA standards training required./ppemOnly degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. nbsp;Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree./em/ppustrongLicenses and Certificates:/strong/unbsp; For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days (emORS 807.020 (1)/em)em.nbsp;/emCurrent ASE Master Auto Technician certification in all eight automotive repair categories is required. nbsp;Advanced level L1 ASE certification is desirable. Recent training certifications from multiple car manufacturers are desirable./ppustrongExperience/strong:/u At least two years of recent full-time clinical phlebotomy experience or supervision required. Broad clinical and teaching experience preferred. nbsp;Three years of clinical experience that includes training and instruction to students preferred. ASPC PBT. Or equivalent preferred. First Aid/CPR./ppustrongKnowledge of:/strong/u Computer applications for online learning through Blackboard, Class Spec Details, grading, communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, the Internet, spreadsheets and database management, multi-media presentations; curriculum development; the community colleges mission, role in higher education, and student population; and sensitivity to a diverse student body and its needs; of the role of accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act; of a variety of pedagogical methods, including lecture, group activity, discussion and individual instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles. nbsp;Knowledge of Clinical and Medical office Safety Includes: knowledge of safe chemical handling, storage, and disposal procedures; safe handling and disposal of sharps and phlebotomy equipment; how to locate and use MSDS sheets; proper medical safety and infectious disease handling and disposal; OSHA and HIPAA training./ppustrongAbility to:/strong/u Able to be deemed "fit" by Senior and Persons with Disability (SPD) Division following required Criminal History check. nbsp;Ability to safely demonstrate, model, and instruct students using proper procedures and protocol.
