Current DSWA employees can also apply via the Internal Job Board in ADP. strongThis is an onsite position./strong/p pstrongPURPOSE:/strong The purpose of this position is to operate the weigh system scales at Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) facilities in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures established by DSWA. The position will require working a rotating schedule including some Saturdays and holidays and filling in for other full time or part time weighmasters when needed and at other DSWA facilities when necessary. The requirement to fill in may result in working multiple shifts at various locations during the work week and may result in overtime hours. The position may range from a minimum of 15 hours per week to overtime as needed. The requirement to fill in may come with short notice as directed by the Supervisor and as facility needs warrant./p p /p pstrongESSENTIAL TASKS:/strong/p pEssential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here./p ul liQuestion facility users and visually inspect vehicles to ensure compliance with DSWA policies and regulations./li liWeigh incoming and outbound vehicles by operating computer and truck scales located at facilities and conducts monetary transaction./li liDetermine waste, product, or material classification and destination, and computes charges./li liDirect users and controls traffic flow into and out of the facility./li liProvide information and assistance regarding rules, regulations and operating procedures to licensed public collectors, contractors and private citizens using the facility./li liConduct daily opening and closeout procedures to reconcile monetary transactions received each day./li liOpen and closes scalehouse to ensure the security of scalehouse./li liMaintain records and logs of facility and weighing activity as required./li liAnswer phones and provides information and assistance regarding rules, regulations and procedures to the public, contractors and haulers./li /ul pstrongADDITIONAL DUTIES:/strong/p ul liMaintain equipment related to scalehouse operations as instructed./li liAccept bill payments and makes deposits./li liPerform other duties as assigned./li /ul pstrongQUALIFICATIONS/strong/p pstrongEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:/strong/p pRequires a high school diploma or equivalent. No experience required. Must possess First Aid and CPR certification (Certification training provided by DSWA)./p pEligible for a valid Weighmaster License as issued by the Delaware Department of Agriculture, at the time of application and possession of such license at the time of appointment./p pKnowledge of weigh system equipment and procedures. Training, knowledge and experience with computer software preferred. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively orally. Knowledge of office equipment including computers. Knowledge of weights and scales. Knowledge of DSWA's policies and procedures. Knowledge of DSWA's permits. Knowledge of hazardous material allowances. Ability to communicate effectively and in a courteous manner with the public, haulers and contractors.
